Tour de Kananaskis 145kms
This route can be ridden as a 2-day/1 night or as a 3-day/2 night - perhaps even longer if desired. We'd suggest riding it in a clockwise direction and staging at the Big Elbow/Little Elbow trailhead.
One of the features of this route is it runs right through Kananaskis Village at about the half way point. One could "glam" it up with a night at the resort (and the nordic spa) or even stay at the hostel. Food and supplies are available in the village as well as at the Boulton Trading Post and at Fortress Junction gas station. One could also "semi-glam" it up by booking a trappers tent or teepee at Sundance Basecamp located on hwy.40 close to the turnoff to the village.
Riding it as a 3-day/2-night adventure we'd suggest staying at the Canyon campground in Peter Lougheed Park on night 1 and the Sibbald Campground on night 2.
This route would also be doable as an 2-day/1 night e-bikepacking adventure if your bike has the battery range, with an overnight recharge opportunity if you stay at the resort or the hostel.
This route is suitable for bikes with 42mm or wider tires and be advised: The segment from Tombstone to Elbow Lake is tough due to very rough surface. It is rideable for strong, technical riders, or for folks using MTBs. Others may find they need to walk a few of the tougher bits but it is totally worth it to trudge through the "baby heads" and get up into the valley where Elbow Lake sits.
