Big Elbow To Waterton 333km

Expert-level bikepacking adventure in the front range of the Rockies.

We’d suggest the itinerary below which is 6 days of riding, 5 nights. The second half has shorter days to accommodate for potential big winds and create time to enjoy the views. It would be possible to shorten this to 4-5 days for folks who want to hammer out longer, harder days and would be possible to make it longer as there are many campgrounds along the way.

Resupply opportunities in the Crowsnest Pass and at the Beaver Mines store. Lots of water refill spots as well, make sure to filter, of course. Also, the Lost Lemon campground has a pool and showers.

Day 1 Big Elbow to Etherington Campground
Day 2 Etherington to Dutch Creek Campground
Day 3 Dutch Creek To Lost Lemon Campground
Day 4 Lost Lemon to Castle River Bridge Campground
Day 5 Castle River Bridge to Bathing Lake Bandit Camp
Day 6 Bathing Lake to Waterton

FYI: Many of the campgrounds are FCFS (first come, first served).

Most of the route is outside cell service so bring an InReach GPS system.
Be bear aware.
Expect big wind at times variable weather, even in the middle of summer.
